I see it all the time, especially on Facebook, a Christian discussing a matter and appealing to their feelings rather than the Bible. Comment after comment of their opinion, and not a SINGLE iota of Scripture mentioned. Which got me thinking, “As Christians, should we even have an opinion?”
Jesus said, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32) That doesn’t leave much room for personal opinion, does it!?
Now here’s where it gets hard, its that nasty concept we wish wasn’t in the Bible, SUBMISSION! As disciples of Jesus, we must recognize, He’s the Master. We essentially forfeit our opinions and take upon ourselves the Masters word. I have no opinion, I seek, with God’s help, to only say what my Master says. Of course I fail at times, but the goal is to be conformed, completely to the word of Christ.
There are a lot of difficult concepts in the Bible, a lot of hard sayings, these we need to believe without wavering. You don’t have to understand everything, you don’t even have to get warm fuzzy feelings about it, but you must believe and trust His Word!
What it really boils down to is the way you answer this question, “Who is smarter, you or God?” If you say, “I know better then God” then that settles that, you’re not a Christian. But if you say, “Obviously God is smarter than me” then you must readily submit to His whole Word.
So in this New Year of 2019, lets all commit to putting aside our opinions and in simple faith believe and propagate the Masters TRUTH! We are heralds of His Kingdom, we are His Ambassadors, we ought not have our own opinions anyways.
What Ambassador of a nation on Earth, goes to another nation with his own opinion? None! They go with a message from their master. Let us not be worse Servants of our Master then the Ambassadors of Earthly nations are to theirs! Jesus is King of kings, put aside your opinions and abide in HIS WORD!!!
