We Need MORE Churches in Windsor!

If everyone in Windsor, Ontario woke up on Sunday morning and wanted to go to church, would they have a seat?

That is the question that convinced me that church planting is not only a good idea, but a desperate need. Many Churches are content with simply supporting other churches in the city financially and prayerfully. There is nothing wrong with that, we need churches like that. However I suggest that we can do both! We can plant Churches that function like self reproducing organisms that grow and then replicate themselves in other regions. We can also support other churches with our finances.

The reality is churches are closing their doors in record numbers. I don’t know about your region, but in Windsor there are a multitude of dying/dead churches. Buildings that were once filled to the brim with people, now stand empty, and falling apart. We can look at this with great sorrow, or as a great opportunity. Why did these churches die? Well there are several reasons and it is a complex issue in some respects. But in another respect it is quite simple, the Gospel took a back seat and the people took shotgun in God’s car. So why should we plant churches? Because they are dying off. It seems as if God is pruning churches that have lost their way in an effort to make room for those who will do His work. We need to plant churches because that is God’s vehicle to reach the lost.

Planting Gospel centered churches is the only way we will see the lost come to know Christ in our regions. Jesus told us to pray for labors to work in His harvest (Luke 10:2). Sounds overly simple doesn’t it? Pray for God to raise up labors to work His harvest. That’s where we must start, stay and move forward to. Personally I have seen this worked out practically. We have been praying for labourers and God is sending them. The testimony of Scripture and history both testify that when God’s people pray according to His will, things happen. We need more churches, we need it bad. Join me in praying for God to send out laborers into His harvest, He will be faithful to answer.
