Why Do We Meet Outside Every Sunday?

The pandemic and ensuing restrictions have hit everyone hard, and churches have not been an exception. As a church we had a room we renovated and rented inside of Matthew House located at 3185 Forest Glade Drive that served as our meeting house.

Shortly into the pandemic we were disturbed by the persecution of fellow churches in our area and country. We took a stand with pastors who were being fined and hindered from obeying the Lord and their conscience.

Church is Essential!

We also decided not to force masks on anyone coming to worship the Lord with us on Sunday. This caused a problem with our landlord at Matthew House. After a frank discussion with Matthew House, we explained our position that we would not require a face covering to gain access into our worship gatherings, nor would we violate anyone’s privacy by demanding they produce a doctors note stating they were exempt. Matthew House decided to abruptly evict us as a result of our decision to obey God and not capitulate to the decrees of man.

We now find ourselves without a meeting house for the time being. We believe that the Church is not a building. The Church is made up of people that have been saved by the Lord Jesus. The bible tells us clearly the Church is His bride. With that truth in mind, we have not ceased meeting, but have instead worshiped Him outdoors, every Sunday, in the park beside Matthew House.

We meet outside because the Church is commanded to meet. Whether we have a building or not is not the point. The point is the glory of God being displayed in the people of God meeting to worship the King. We are saddened that Matthew House has such a low view of the local church that they would abruptly evict us for standing on the Word of God in accordance with our conscience. However we are grateful to the King of the Church for the clear direction He has us on and for the privilege to be mistreated for His name.

Nothing can stop the Church of the living God. So with that said, come join us on Sundays underneath the sun to glorify the one who fashioned it and us!!!

Grace and peace!
