4 Simple Ways to Reach Out

4 Simple Ways to Reach Out

As disciples of Jesus we have a mission to reach out to our neighbors, family and friends with the Gospel. But how can we reach out when our lives are so busy that we barely have time to make our beds in the morning?

1) Meet Needs on the Go

I have made a practice of looking at all of life as a mission field. Train your eye to look for needs and then look for creative ways to meet them. This can be as simple as seeing someone sitting alone and smiling at them, or as bold as paying for someones groceries at the store. As you go about your day you no doubt pass by dozens of people who are hurting and needy. Offering an encouraging word, or complimenting someone appropriately can open doors to Gospel conversations that can be very fruitful.

2) Be Prepared

I always have $40 cash in my wallet for the purpose of outreach. I also have Bibles, Bible tracts and invitation cards on me or in my car. God will prompt me to share the money with someone, or buy someone’s goods at the dollar store. Sometimes it leads to a Gospel conversation, sometimes it doesn’t. But it always opens a door to pray for someone specifically, which plants spiritual seeds that we have no idea how God will use. You don’t have to carry $40 on you like I do, but you do need to be prepared to reach out. Be creative, pray and see how God uses you.

3) Don’t Hide

This isn’t always easy, especially for the more introverted among us. Don’t hide that you are a Christian. Make it known whenever you can. When asked what you did on the weekend, talk about church and what you learned. When asked, “What’s new and exciting?” share about what God is teaching you and showing you. Don’t be obnoxious and pushy about it, God gives us many good opportunities to talk about Him in appropriate ways that we often miss. Don’t hide your faith, be an open book.

 4) Commit to Personal Holiness

Our lifestyle is a powerful witness. If we are committed to personal holiness our families, friends, co-workers and neighbours will notice. When our Gospel preaching is matched with a life of integrity and truth it can be a powerful out reach tool. Commit yourself to personal holiness and obedience to the Lord.
