Jesus tells a parable of Judgment Day in the book of Matthew where He separates the sheep (His true disiciples, His brothers) and the goats (unbelievers and false believers). He proceeds to tell the sheep that when He was hungry, they fed Him, and when He was naked, they clothed Him. The sheep, perplexed by this saying, respond by asking, “When did we feed you and clothe you?” Jesus answered and said, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25:40)
There are children in our communities going without adequate socks, winter hats and mittens during the coldest months of the year. This is why Life Giver Church of Windsor, Ontario is excited to partner with the Forest Glade Public School in a Christmas Sock Drive. We are going to take the words of the Lord Jesus, and put them into action. Starting Tuesday, October 11th, we will be collecting socks, winter hats and mittens for children grades kindergarten to grade 8. On Thursday, December 22nd we will deliver everything we collected to the Forest Glade Public School so they have a large reserve to pull out of this winter season.
When a child goes without socks or mittens this year, Jesus goes without socks or mittens. When their toes are cold, His toes are cold. This is an inexpensive, practical way to tell our community, the Jesus of Christmas is alive and He has not forsaken them.
